Human Chain on Climate Justice held in Bangladesh
Demanding Climate Justice at 64th UN General Assembly: Developed countries must compensate

The principal demand from the peoples of Bangladesh at the 64th UN General Assembly the Honorable Prime Minister to reduce green house carbon gas. By 2050 carbon gas must be reduced 95%. It also demands the losses to recover the rural livelihood from the developed nations and they have to compensate the affected countries. Otherwise affected nations will boycott the products from developed nations. Next coming 22 September UN General Assembly will be hat UN Head quarter and Special session will be held on climate Change issues. Bangladesh honorable Prime Minister will lead Bangladesh team. This was stated on  Human Chain on Climate Justice after gathering organized by Campaign for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods-CSRL costal group on 16th September 2009 at Chittagong Press Club Premises. ISDE Bangladesh initiated the Human Chain demanding Climate Justice were participated by different section of the community. The speakers says developed countries are responsible for climate change and so many people become climate refugees and they should take the responsibilities. In Bangladesh various natural calamities occurred every day due to carbon gas supplies.

Apart from this coastal region of Bangladesh is almost one third of the total land. In generally 18 districts belongs to coastal region. 48 Upazila of 15 districts are most vulnerable to climate change. Already some areas are affected by water logging and saline water intrusion.
People are suffering from drinking water scarcity and also from fresh water for irrigation. Saline water encroaches by shrimp farmer and the shrimp farming land become out-of-cultivation. Common hazards of this campaign group are cyclone and heavy storm, flood, tidal surge, heavy rainfall, salinity intrusion, short duration water logging.

The gathering were presided by Mr. S M Nazer Hossain Executive Director ISDE Bangladesh, while Mr. Afsar Khan, President District Social Entrepreneur Council, Consumer Association Chittagong Regional Unit, Secretary and ASHOKA USA fellow Mr. Quazi Iqbal Bahar Sabery, Mr. Abdul wahab Chy President District Teachers Association, Mr. Lakiot Ullah, Headmaster Nurul Islam Municipal Girl High School, Mr. Hannan Meah, Head Master Sanowara Boys High School, Ajoy Mitra Sanku, Umme Kuslhum Arzu, Shahadaot Hossain, PROSHIKA, Nazrul Islam Manna, PARC, Sowrab Barua, Sangsaptak, Women Leader Nurjahan Khan, Rafiqul Islam, UCEP, Jahirul Islam, ISHIKA Foundation, Student leaders Rashed Khan Menon, social leaders Almagir Noor, Jane Alam, Mezmah Udin Liton, Pankaj Deb Nath, Divisional Child Forum were spoke on the occasion.  Â

Later a memorandum were submitted through local deputy commissioner to the Prime Minister to demanding compensation from developed countries at UN General assembly by the Bangladesh team
