Members of MICA’s Students for a Sustainable Campus gathered on MICA’s Cohen plaza and collected signatures on an 8 foot by 11 foot letter to protest Constellation Energy’s use of dirty fossil fuels and mountaintop removal coal. At noon, 22 students & Baltimoreans braved the rain to parade down North Charles & Pratt Streets to the Constellation Energy Commodities Group building in the Inner Harbor. We chanted, carried a four foot-tall mountain puppet, signs, and the letter to Constellation Energy folded up into a giant envelope. We gathered in front of the CECG building, gave an opening speech, and then several of our group went inside to try and invite a representative of CE to come out and listen to us read the letter. Our group was immediately told to leave the building. The letter was read over a megaphone outside, and then placed in front of the building for pedestrians to read as they passed by.
