Report from Nov. 30 - Kids Climate Justice Parade, San Francisco Kids and parents marched today in San Francisco with the Mobilization for Climate Justice, carrying brooms and a banner reading "U.S. Clean-Up Your Climate Mess." The kids parade separated from the rest of the march before reaching the action at Bank of America, and played "Let's make a mess." Kids poured dirt on a giant map of the world, 1 cup for each ton of per capita CO2 emissions - 0.1 for Ethiopia, 1.2 for India, 4.7 for China and 20 for the U.S.! Then they cleaned it up. The crowd loved it, the kids had a lot of fun, the marching band played beautiful music. Afterwards parents and kids took messages the kids had written on cleaning rags to Senator Feinstein's office and met with a representative in the lobby. The representative was very nice, graciously accepting a bucket full of rags, spoke to us at length about what we were doing, and encouraged us to come back and make an appointment to tell them more about our concerns. All in all a great day.
